MEETING TOMORROW NIGHT FREE PIZZA AND COOKIES

The Safe Rides program will meet at ValleyCare Pleasanton tomorrow night, 12/19 from 6:30 to 7:30.  Conference rooms in Cafeteria area.

Free pizza and cookies and...........I will give you two (2) CC hours for attending! Just put it on this week's time sheet.

Learn more about the Safe Rides program and the Medical Explorer Post.

Thank you for working on the gifts today.

For those that were absent, here is a way to collect CC hours over the holiday:

For CC hours from 12/21/13 to 1/5/14 you will need:

1.       A time sheet (use one for the entire holiday period).  Have a PARENT write name/sign time sheet.  Accuracy is very important, so be sure to record hours carefully.  Set a timer at the house or on your phone to go off each hour.  Document hours on the quarter hour if you do less than one hour, example: 15 min., 30 min., 45, min. (if more… 1:30, etc.)

2.       Access to the website:  http://ccbma.org/

3.       Access to the website:  http://www.cmaa-ca.org/

Directions:

1.       Review entire CCBMA website (#2 above)  Go to ALL tabs and write down what each one is about.  TABS:

HOME/EXAM/RECERTIFICATION/INSTRUCTOR’S CORNER /FAQ’S /LINKS /CONTACT US/COMPANY STORE

*Print out the application and examination study outline.  Go to the “exam” tab and scroll to the bottom of the page.

*This will be homework for everyone in January!

2.       Review entire CMAA website (#3 above)   Go to ALL tabs and write down what each one is about. TABS:

HOME/ABOUT US/MEMBERSHIP/NEWSLETTER/MEETINGS/LINKS/STORE/PHOTO ALBUM

Go to newsletter tab and read the newsletter.  Where is the list of “newly certified” folks?  Can you see your name on that list this summer….or before June 2015?  You are eligible to take the exam as soon as you turn 18 and you can apply to take the exam before you are 18.  What do you like about the newsletter?  How can you earn “Continuing Education Credit” via the newsletter?  Answer these questions by typing out the question and then the answer.

3.        Create a PPT presentation, 3-minute oral presentation, or write a 3-page essay (double-spaced, 12 font, New Times Roman) on the benefits of certifying as a medical assistant, how to apply and take the exam and lastly, the benefits of belonging to the organization “CMAA”.

This should help you earn at least 10 hours of time toward your 180 community classroom hours goal!

Take care,

Mrs. Erceg

Happy Holidays!

 Hi Everyone!

Want to feel fantastic? Want to warm your heart and some others too? There is still time to bring in something Sarah G. can take to our adopted veterans. Please see last night's blog.  Hey Chazz...do you have any guitar books you can donate?

GHS:  You will vote for your favorite ASE experience tomorrow.

AVHS: Check school schedule for 12/20 on last night's blog.

LHS:  You have a special extended lunch 12/20.... it should not affect site arrival time.  Let me know if it does.

FHS:   School will end at 12:30 on 12/20, so head to site and then have a great holiday!

DHS:  You are out at 11:08 due to a minimum day on 12/20.  Please notify me of your site schedule.

EVERYONE:  Notify your site supervisor, manager and/or staff of your holiday schedule.  Out from site from 12/21 to 1/5/13.

DUE TOMORROW:
  1. Quiz 6/7
  2. "KEY TERMS" MT project -> Define word part, create word with that word part and then define the word.  Please type or write very neatly!  If I can't read it, I can't grade it.
  3. Please bring in a holiday card or thank you card for your site to work on in class 12/18. Ask your parents if you can buy some candy or treats to share with the staff at your site too.  We will be making little gifts in class on Wednesday, so bring your crafts if you'd like and your crafty ways!
  4. TIME SHEET(S) for the week of 12/9 (and 12/2 if you did not turn it in!!!)
  5. TRAINING AGREEMENTS (2-part white/yellow form): If you have not turned it in, please do so.  KAISER INTERNS - no worries, just turn it in without a supervisor signature if you don't have that part done, okay? I will take care of it.
  6. Write in your journal about military time, and how it is used at a hospital or at your site.  Practice "telling time" in military time.
  7. Journal every day!  Be thorough and write in detail.  A paragraph is fine...but make it count! You can put three or four journal entries on one page, both sides, to save paper. You will benefit greatly by working hard on your journal.  Believe me!
Take care,

Mrs. Erceg

Happy Monday to You

Hello All!

Holiday angel Sarah Guilford (morning class) and her group of angel friends are working on a special project:

As the holidays are approaching, we want to help those who have helped us. We have adopted two veterans, Gary and Mike, both 50 year old males. We want to give them some presents that can make their holiday special. Gary just moved into stable housing and is very interested in construction and anything cowboy related. He also loves working with tools. Mike loves playing his guitar and listening to rock n' roll music. He would love anything music related, as well as winter clothing (size medium to large), and a men's messenger bag. If you would like to help, you can bring presents or money to Mrs. Erceg's room S-4 by tomorrow, Tuesday 12/17 (go see her at lunch). I know it is short notice, but we would really like to help! Even $1.00 will be fine.It would be greatly appreciated!

SEE KAISER SCHEDULE in THE CC BINDER.

Hello ALL Parents-                       (Students - PLEASE show this or print for your family)

I am looking forward to working with your students on the next part of our journey - the internship.  This internship starts tomorrow, Monday, December 2nd and ends on June 6, 2014.

If there is an urgent matter, you may call my cell phone (510) 305-5111 between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

PHONE CALLS:  Students and I are out at sites Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  On those days, students and parents call me on my cell phone.  Students and parents are to expect a response from me in 5 MINUTES via call or text.  If that response is not received, please try calling me directly.

On WEDNESDAYS we are back in the classroom, so please call me at (925) 606-4800 x 3640 on Wednesdays.

EMAILS:  You may email me anytime with any non-urgent matters:  lerceg@lvjusd.k12.ca.us

ABSENCE NOTIFICATION:

Students are to call me before 9:00 a.m. on the day of the absence to inform me that they will not be going to site and they must also call their site supervisor.  This is good practice!  PARENTS: please call or text me on my cell as soon as possible on the day of the absence to excuse your son or daughter.  I must have parent authorization for every absence.  Students MAY NOT leave the site before the end of their shift without notifying instructor/parent.

TIME SHEETS:  Must be signed by a staff member or supervisor each Friday, or at the end of their week. These are turned in to me each Wednesday.  Grade is affected if a signed time sheet is not turned in each Wednesday, starting on 12/11 (for the week of 12/2).  HOURS: Students must complete a minimum of 180 hours in order to receive a certificate of completion for the course.  I encourage students to be in the "Over 200 Hours Club" - looks great on the resume'.

UNIFORMS: Students must wear their ROP badge.  They must also wear ROP uniforms unless otherwise indicated (some sites require different attire - call me about that).  Hair up and back for the girls, boys - clean shaven and if there is a beard or mustache, it must be perfectly groomed each day.  Make up for the girls - minimal and natural looking.  A professional looking light jacket or sweater may be worn.  Shoes are to be navy, black or white, sturdy and clean.

CC BINDER:  All students MUST carry their community classroom binder to site each day.  They are to journal their experiences each day they are at site.  This binder must be with them when them come to the classrooms on Wednesdays as well.

CELL PHONES:  Students are not allowed to have cell phones with them at their site.  This is a violation of program rules.  If there is a concern, a parent must contact me.  Thank you.

EMERGENCIES:  Parents call my cell phone to inform me and I will immediately contact the student at site, as I have direct line numbers. Student have made 5x8 cards with teacher and parent phone numbers as well so the site can inform us of any concern at the site.

The blog entries are posted M-F and are to be checked each weekday evening - very important, as this is my communication tool to stay in touch during the week.
