Internships start tomorrow - go medical professionals!

GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!  I know you will all do a wonderful job and take very good care of the patients....and the staff!

Parents of KAISER INTERNS PLEASE call your student's school tonight or tomorrow morning and excuse them for the timeframe of 9:30 and 12:30 so they can attend the Kaiser Permanente orientation from 10:00 to 12:00.  This is for ALL Kaiser interns.
You may call or email the message today or tomorrow and they will have it in advance.

THEY WILL COME HOME AFTER THE ORIENTATION - NO ROP IN THE AFTERNOON.
SEE KAISER SCHEDULE in THE CC BINDER.

Hello ALL Parents-                       (Students - PLEASE show this or print for your family)

I am looking forward to working with your students on the next part of our journey - the internship.  This internship starts tomorrow, Monday, December 2nd and ends on June 6, 2014.

If there is an urgent matter, you may call my cell phone (510) 305-5111 between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

PHONE CALLS:  Students and I are out at sites Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  On those days, students and parents call me on my cell phone.  Students and parents are to expect a response from me in 5 MINUTES via call or text.  If that response is not received, please try calling me directly.

On WEDNESDAYS we are back in the classroom, so please call me at (925) 606-4800 x 3640 on Wednesdays.

EMAILS:  You may email me anytime with any non-urgent matters:  lerceg@lvjusd.k12.ca.us

ABSENCE NOTIFICATION:

Students are to call me before 9:00 a.m. on the day of the absence to inform me that they will not be going to site and they must also call their site supervisor.  This is good practice!  PARENTS: please call or text me on my cell as soon as possible on the day of the absence to excuse your son or daughter.  I must have parent authorization for every absence.  Students MAY NOT leave the site before the end of their shift without notifying instructor/parent.

TIME SHEETS:  Must be signed by a staff member or supervisor each Friday, or at the end of their week. These are turned in to me each Wednesday.  Grade is affected if a signed time sheet is not turned in each Wednesday, starting on 12/11 (for the week of 12/2).  HOURS: Students must complete a minimum of 180 hours in order to receive a certificate of completion for the course.  I encourage students to be in the "Over 200 Hours Club" - looks great on the resume'.

UNIFORMS: Students must wear their ROP badge.  They must also wear ROP uniforms unless otherwise indicated (some sites require different attire - call me about that).  Hair up and back for the girls, boys - clean shaven and if there is a beard or mustache, it must be perfectly groomed each day.  Make up for the girls - minimal and natural looking.  A professional looking light jacket or sweater may be worn.  Shoes are to be navy, black or white, sturdy and clean.

CC BINDER:  All students MUST carry their community classroom binder to site each day.  They are to journal their experiences each day they are at site.  This binder must be with them when them come to the classrooms on Wednesdays as well.

CELL PHONES:  Students are not allowed to have cell phones with them at their site.  This is a violation of program rules.  If there is a concern, a parent must contact me.  Thank you.

EMERGENCIES:  Parents call my cell phone to inform me and I will immediately contact the student at site, as I have direct line numbers. Student have made 5x8 cards with teacher and parent phone numbers as well so the site can inform us of any concern at the site.

The blog entries are posted M-F and are to be checked each weekday evening - very important, as this is my communication tool to stay in touch during the week.

Mrs. Erceg
